Ultimate Sausage Gravy

SERVINGS

4 servings

INGREDIENTS

· 1 lb bulk sausage (I like Jimmy Dean Hot)
· 4 Cups Milk
· 8 Tbs Bacon Grease
· 6 Tbs Flour (all-purpose)
· ¼ cup Grated Sharp Cheddar Cheese
· Salt and Pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

1. In a pan which is large enough to make your gravy, fry the sausage. As it is cooking, use you spatula to break it up into fingernail sizes pieces.
2. Remove the sausage from the pan and set aside in a bowl.
3. In the same pan, add the bacon grease and flour, salt and pepper.
4. Wisk together until smooth.
5. Add Milk and stir constantly until the gravy thickens.
6. After the gravy is thickened, add the reserved sausage and the cheddar cheese.
7. Stir until the cheese has melted.

COMMENTS

1. Serve immediately over biscuits.
2. This recipe is equally good if you substitute 8 to 10 sliced of thick cut Bacon (diced) instead of the Sausage.
